The Story Behind Codalie Cute Designs

Codalie Cute Designs is more than just a small business for me—it’s a love letter to my pets, my family, and the little doodles that have been a part of me since I was a kid.

The name itself has a very special meaning. It all started with Malone, my sweet boy who I only got to love for two short years before he passed. He was one of those rare pets that feels like your soul mate in animal form. I didn’t think I could ever feel that way again until I brought Coda home. He taught me something I never thought possible—you can actually have two soul kitties in a lifetime.

When it came time to name my business, I wanted it to be rooted in that love. My nine-year-old daughter came up with the idea to mash their names together. We always called Malone “Maloney Baloney” and Coda “Cody Wodey,” so playing around with the names just made sense. Out of that came Codalie; and when she added “Cute” to it, she giggled and said, “Because your art is cute, Mom!” That’s how Codalie Cute Designs was born.

For a long time, I actually kept my doodling to myself. I thought it was childish, silly, even a little embarrassing. But when I was asked to design some t-shirts for my campus, something shifted. People genuinely liked my art. They wanted to wear it. That small moment gave me the courage to finally believe in my creativity and to share it with the world.

Codalie Cute Designs is inspired by all the furry little souls in my life. Alongside Malone and Coda, I have three other cat--Ella, Draca, and Coco--all rescues with their own quirky stories. And let’s not forget my two dogs (one of them also a rescue) who add their own love and chaos to the mix. Each one has a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to share more about their personalities and the joy they bring into our lives.

At its heart, this business is about love, playfulness, and the reminder that art doesn’t have to be “serious” to be meaningful. Sometimes the cutest, quirkiest little doodles carry the most love behind them. And that’s exactly what I want Codalie Cute Designs to bring to you.
